What does VAMP FX do and how does it work?-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
VAMP FX modifies the RIP Graphics with commands that tells RIP 2.2
to play a .WAV file users have in thier Icons Directory...
ANSI doesn't look at the data and with RIP1.54 it is ignored...
So once the user has the FXWAVES.ZIP (*.wav) unzipped in their
RIPTERM\ICONS directory VAMPIRES has 16-bit SOUND!
As well as ALL the Games and IGMs using the FX Sound System!
How do I install it?-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
Easy...Backup *.RIP in the Vampires\Graphics dir
And unzip VAMPFXRP.ZIP in the Vampires\Graphics dir and overwrite
All the existing .RIP files. That's it!
Any one calling in RIP 2.2 who has installed the FX Waves will
now hear Sound in Mike Fenton's Vampires: Children of Darkness
Be sure to make the FXWAVES.ZIP Available for download.
An VAMPFX.RIP and VAMPFX.ANS have been included to announce it to
your users.
How do I know it's working?-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
You can't hear the sound local, just like you can't see the RIP...
Just ASK one of your RIP 2.2 users and he'll tell you just how
Awesome it is! Or.... :) Give me a call with RIP 2.2 and check it
out! (You know if there's a problem Everyone will let you know!)
For the latest Versions of the FX Sound System and latest Waves ...
Call Midnight's Realm...............................(505)831-0797
How Much to Register for Updates?-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
Only $5! That's CHEAP for such a Unique Breakthrough for the most
Unique BBS Game! With a Standard for FX Sound all BBSs that use
it will enable sound with the same waves, but You MAY Customize the
Sound and I encourage it.
What do I Get?-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
You'll also be put on my mailing list and recieve all additions
and improvements to VAMPFX.FX via Internet e-mail file attatch.
As well as the most recent LORD FX! (And other FX Add-ons)
How do I Order?-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
The easiest thing to do is Print the FXORDER.DOC.
Future releases will have a REGISTERED BBS list to be included
with the FXWAVES.ZIP
Trouble Shooting-=-=-=-=-=-=--=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-Common Q & A
Q: Some of the Sounds are getting chopped off...
A: If the WAV you're using is fairly long and you're moving on to the
next screen, or hitting another button the sound may get chopped.
16-bit waves may also get chopped off occasionally.
Q: Some of the Buttons don't have Sound...
A: There could be a few reasons... You're playing the DEMO or Shareware,
You haven't installed all the waves, or you are using your HOT KEYS.
To hear ALL the SOUNDS you MUST use a MOUSE and click on the buttons
that marked FX or Find the hidden Hot Spots..
Q: When I click on the FX buttons the text scrolls by real fast and
sometimes it even kicks me all the way back to town!
A: You're using RIP 1.54 and your terminal doesn't understand what the
command to play a wave is...click on the regualar buttons, use
your Hot Keys, or better yet, get RIPterm 2.2!
Q: Sometimes the Graphics seem to lose Icons or the Text doesn't look right
Or the RIP seems scrambled...
A: That's a RIPterm problem that may occur because of baud rate, buffers or the
16650 UART ... consult the RIPterm.doc for possible causes and solutions.
I've tested the RIP and Sound for many hours with alot of remote test
worked out all of the bugs (I hope) associated with the add-on.
The only other problems have been on the users side with poor sound
cards or some other type of configuration conflict with RIPterm...
They should either get a better sound card or try and consult Telegrafix
the makers of RIPterm.
